Translated from the Ayuntamiento notice:

The City Council of La Oliva decrees the temporary suspension of musical performances in the streets, in addition to the markets of Lajares and El Cotillo. A decision that is adopted after the new extension of the Insular Emergency Plan and the notable decrease in tourists in the municipality, which brings with it a reduction in sales.

In this sense, conversations have been held with the organizers of both markets and with the musicians authorized to perform in different parts of the municipality, with the aim of adopting this decision in a consensual manner.

“We trust that the situation will stabilize and we can resume the activity of the street markets and musical performances. Now we have to be responsible and ensure that the epidemiological situation on the island stabilizes ”, says the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Gastronomy, Celino Umpiérrez.

The La Oliva City Council clarifies that the La Oliva Traditions Market is maintained, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month, since its main product is food. “A market in which we have taken all security measures from the first moment: there is access control, temperature measurement, signage and cleaning,” Umpiérrez states.

The La Oliva Traditions Market will continue to open at its usual time. The La Oliva City Council is confident that it will be able to resume activity as soon as possible.

    El Cotillo Hotels

There are only three El Cotillo hotels as, fortunately, it has not developed into that kind of resort – so far anyway. I would not want to see it become another massive all-inclusive resort like some others as the village would be totally ruined. The three hotels in El Cotillo are all very different –…
