The July Music Festival Cancelled. The annual El Cotillo music festival, which was due to take place on 6th and 7th July, has been cancelled.That is a bit of a blow for the village.
The Festival Website states:
“The Cabildo suspends the Fuerteventura Festival in Music 2018
The requirements of the Law on Contracts of the Public Sector prevent its celebration, scheduled for the next 6 and July 7
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura announces the suspension of the Fuerteventura en Música festival, whose edition this year was scheduled for July 6 and 7.
The entry into force of the new Law on Contracts of the Public Sector, as well as the mandatory adaptation to the Spanish legal system of European directives on public procurement have motivated the decision of the island corporation to suspend the event. Despite the intense work carried out by the personnel responsible for these procedures, it has not been possible to manage and confirm in time and form all the necessary and essential services and supplies for the holding of an event of these characteristics, under the conditions that deserves a festival of this nature.
Regretting the inconveniences that this measure may cause, the Cabildo will continue to guarantee the future of the Festival in future editions, a benchmark of good music in a privileged natural environment, for which the corporation bets decisively.”

I have been holidaying in Fuerteventura for over 30 years and first came to El Cotillo 17 years ago. I owned an apartment in El Cotillo for 10 years and now live with my wife, Sue, and dog, Jenson, just 5 miles away. El Cotillo is my favourite place in Fuerteventura.
